Supervises the shipping and warehousing of finished goods and directs the work of the shipping and warehousing associates. Monitors compliance with customer packaging and labeling specifications. Investigates and resolves inventory and shipping problems.
Essential Functions:
• Monitors compliance with customer packaging and labeling specifications and takes corrective action, as needed.
• Directs the work of the shipping and warehousing associates to ensure accurate inventory, on-time delivery and a safe work environment.
• Monitors shipments to ensure the customer orders are filled correctly and meet quality standards.
• Recommends traffic routing of goods to be shipped. Coordinates shipping arrangements with carriers.
• Investigates and resolves inventory and shipping problems. Determines the cause and nature of problems with the assistance of sales and material control and by using a computerized production control system.
• Completes forms and reports as required.
• Oversees the data entry of shipping information.
• Plans, organizes and allocates department resources to meet department and company goals.
• Promotes an associate relations environment that is consistent with long term management objectives.
Secondary Functions:
• Assists associates as needed perform warehousing and shipping activities.
• Ensures quality customer files are current.
• Performs other duties as required.
Essential Requirements Physical Demands:
• Lift and/or move weights ranging from 30-4500 lbs. some use of fork trucks and hand cart, some by hand
• Lift, push or pull over 60 lb.
• Operations highly repetitive.
• Good depth perception for fork truck operation.
• Ability to hear warnings from equipment, machines, fork trucks and public-address systems.
• Requires frequent grasping, gripping, pinching, and twisting of hands/wrists.
• Require frequent pushing and/or pulling.
• Require frequent reaching at above and below shoulder height
• Require frequent movement of head and neck.
• Requires standing, walking, climbing stairs and sitting.
• Require frequent reaching at or below shoulder height, some positions have over shoulder work.
• Require frequent movement of head and neck.
• Some operations require occasional stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Clothing and shoes must comply with current MIOSHA regulations and current dress code policy.
• Office environment with noise from computer peripherals such as mainframe, disk drives and printers.
• Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment. Exposure to dangerous equipment.
• Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
Specialized Training, Skills, Abilities, Experience:
• 2-year degree or equivalent.
• 2-4 years previous warehousing and shipping experience.
• Familiarity with mainframe based inventory systems (PLEX) preferred. Basic knowledge of arithmetic to calculate skids required to fill orders.
