Basic Function

Reporting to the Vice-President Sales, Americas the Director Sales Finished - U.S. is responsible for maximizing financial returns through sales of finished lubricants, fluids, and greases in the U.S. markets. This role leads a team of approximately 35 individuals that develop high value customer relationships and responds to customer needs via a mix of channels (distributors, direct sales and agents) into multiple target industry segments.In collaboration with Sales, Global Marketing, Global Supply Chain, and Technology, this role develops and executes strategies and tactics for all product segments and sales channels. Controls exposure to both business and financial risks.

Job Duties
  • Accountability for the sales of finished lubricants, fluids and greases to multiple market segments and through multiple sales channels in the U.S.
  • Responsible for growing distributor and direct Commercial & Industrial business through implementation of the Integrated U.S. Growth Strategy
  • Develops, implements and monitors sales, margins and expense plans to meet operating plan objectives; develops and implements tactical plans and pricing strategies to improve profitability
  • Maximizes customer share of wallet, total gross margin and profitability through stewardship of BPR processes
  • Monitors competitor activity and industry performance factors/trends in order to identify and leverage areas of opportunity
  • Negotiates distributor agreements, sales contracts, service provider agreements/contracts
  • Key member of Distributor Advisory Board designed to find ways to grow the business
  • Responsible for quality and safety protocols/standards for the finished lubricants business within the U.S.
  • Leads, builds and guides a well-functioning and productive team in execution

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Experience
  • Extensive sales, marketing, leadership and people management experience
  • Significant experience in industrial lubricants and related industries
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or related field of study
Required Skills
  • Advanced entrepreneurial, business, analytical, organizational and decision making skills
  • Advanced understanding and use of financial and business data
  • Thorough understanding of the Company's vision and strategic direction and ability to properly translate this information to the Finished lubricants business in the U.S.
  • Strong sense of autonomy
  • Strong understanding of commercial and industrial lubricants sales and marketing strategies, techniques and best practices is essential including knowledge of market research, customer segmentation, lead generation and effective sales tactics
  • Deep understanding of the lubricants industry including knowledge of different types of lubricants, their applications and the competitive landscape
  • Stays up to date on industry trends, regulations, supply and demand and new product development
  • Possess excellent leadership and management skills including the ability to inspire and motivate a sales team, set goals and targets, manage performance and provide guidance and support to achieve sales objectives
  • Develops and implements sales strategies and plans to driver revenue growth including setting sales targets, identifying target markets, analyzing competitors and creating sales forecasts
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key clients, distributors and partners by way of effective communication, negotiation skills and the ability to understand and meet customer needs
  • Uses data and analytics to track sales performance, identify trends and make data driven decisions including analyzing market data, sales reports and customer feedback
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with team members, clients and stakeholders including presenting sales strategies and results, negotiating contracts and resolving customer issues
  • Strong understanding of customer needs and provides excellent customer service including actively listening, addressing concerns and continuously improving the customer experience
  • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, customer demands and industry trends
  • Strong focus on achieving sales targets and delivering results including setting clear performance metrics, tracking progress and implementing strategies to overcome challenges
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
  • Direct leadership of 5 reports
  • Leadership responsibility of an overall team of approximately 35 people that also include Sales Mangers and Technical Services Advisors
Work Conditions
  • Extensive business travel required
  • Home-based position when not traveling for business
  • Must have valid U.S. driver's license
Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping. Job conditions may require making visual inspections, lifting and/or carrying up to 25lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 25lbs, climbing up to 3ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, with valid state driver's license and proof of insurance, working in confined spaces, and perceiving color differences.
