Hf Sinclair is Hiring a Crude Oil Quality Program Manager Near Dallas, TX

Basic Function

HF Sinclair is seeking a Crude Oil Quality Program Manager in Dallas, TX who will be responsible for managing the crude oil assay program for seven refineries, participating in the selection of new crude oils for these refineries, and also monitoring the quality of crude oils over time to determine the impact on refinery economics. Additionally, this position will be responsible for identifying potential projects or alternate routing of crude oils to minimize impacts of contamination occurring during crude oil transportation

Job Duties

  • Responsibilities will be assigned based on the candidate's skill set and capabilities but can include any or all tasks core to the crude oil quality management of our production facilities
  • Participate in the crude selection process by arranging samples, laboratory testing, development of assays, and converting assays to LP-compatible format.
  • Manage the crude oil assay database for seven refineries to distinguish between approved and non-approved crudes for each plant.
  • Direct the crude oil monitoring program by arranging samples, testing, and providing feedback to the refineries around crude oil quality shifts. Determine when assay updates are required based on this monitoring program.
  • Monitor longer-term quality trends to guide the refineries on likely impacts on refinery economics.
  • Provide support to refineries as required around possible crude and or feedstock blends that could improve refinery economics.
  • Keep assay programs, other software, and spreadsheet tools up-to-date. This includes providing updated software licenses to program users within the company.
  • Regularly communicate with the supervisor about work progress, issues, or process improvements.
  • Function as a key interface with the crude oil commercial team & the refinery economic and planning team regarding crude oil optimization.
  • Participate in the development & implementation of a corporate crude oil selection and MOC process.
  • Assure proper programs are in place to validate & value purchased crude oil as well as delivered crude oil.
  • Challenge the historical norms and seek to find opportunities to optimize the crude basket for the refining system.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion


Experience

Minimum 8 years of experience in crude oil selection, quality monitoring, and assay management required. Refining engineering, refining operational experience, laboratory experience, or commercial experience preferred.

Education Level

Minimum undergraduate degree in engineering or chemistry.

Required Skills

Demonstrates strong working knowledge of the fundamentals of refinery operations & commercial related crude oil logistics. Experience with refinery LP modeling software, and crude assay management software (Spiral Assay) preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred. Fluent in English, oral and written required. Strong written/verbal communication, interpersonal and administrative skills. Ability to adjust the schedule to meet business demands.


Preferred Skill

Experience with engineering software is preferred.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Possibility of having two analysists report to this role in the future.

Work Conditions

Office-based with up to 20% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, and driver-based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks and rotating equipment. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions.
