We are looking for a new section manager to lead our Instant Services program management team. Our Instant Services are the foundation of our digital subscription businesses and include Instant Ink and Instant Paper today. Responsible for scoping and defining the technical design, driving execution, and delivery of a software feature, solution, or product. Serves as the bridge between cross-functional teams including marketing, Design, and R&D. Refines the requirements and distributes work into logical customer valued deliverables, and opportunistically identifies synergies with HP's existing systems. Responsible for defining the overall approach and architecture and is accountable for defining the overall quality plan for that feature, solution, or product, and ensuring the on-time delivery, escalating, as necessary.
Responsibilities:

  • Leads and oversees the planning and execution of the organization's most complex and visible projects or programs in support of the continuing evolution of the organization's software products.
  • Partners across functions to prioritize, plan, track and execute complex, cross organizational programs while maintaining focus on building high quality programs.
  • Defines processes that comprise the software development lifecycle and mentors, other members of the team, to do the same.
  • Reaches across functions or de[artments to mitigate program risks and resolves issues that affect release, scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Plays a leadership role and drives the progress of the product management function.
  • Establishes operational objectives, policies, procedures, and work plans and delegates assignments to subordinates.


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Comprehensive experience in developing commercial software products using agile development practices.
  • Expertise in managing cross-organizational software development projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to direct the team in following processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Ability to develop and manage operational initiatives to deliver tactical results.
  • Strong experience in executing business planning and organizational priorities.
  • Expert skills in people and team management, ability to devise operational processes, and guide execution while properly allocating the team's resources.
  • Comprehensive experience with a controlled software release process involving a product lifecycle management tool.

  • Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influence methods and techniques
  • Impacts efficiencies and delivery times across all software teams takes responsibility for the quality of deliveries


Complexity:

  • High: Extensive cross-functional/cross-organizational senior management interface; deals with complex strategic issues.
  • Unique mastery and recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories, and techniques. Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas. Successfully operates in HP’s most complex disciplines.
  • Provides highly innovative solutions. Leads large, cross-division functional teams or projects that affect the organization's long-term goals and objectives. May participate in cross-division, multi-function teams. Provides mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area or demonstrated competence. Typically 10 years of relevant experience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $137,000.00 - $211,000.00 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
