Job description

Head of Payroll

Head of Payroll required to join community-focused charity in Leominster - £34, - 4-day working week

Great opportunity to lead the finance / payroll team as Head of Payroll at this community-focused, charitable organisation in Leominster.

The Head of Payroll will manage a team of 5 advisors, oversee payroll and bookkeeping services, be the main point of contact for payroll-related queries and ensure the smooth running of a compliant service function.

The Head of Payroll will :

  • Lead and manage the payroll team, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments
  • Be main point of contact for stakeholders and external parties, including HMRC
  • Manage budgets, ensuring optimal efficiency and legal compliance
  • Attending weekly, bimonthly and monthly meetings as part of senior management team
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, promoting services where possible
  • Monitor performance, drive efficiencies and identify service improvements

The ideal candidate for this Head of Payroll position will have prior experience in a finance / payroll function, be used to managing a team and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be analytical, an effective problem solver and able to work to tight deadlines in a collaborative team environment.

Solid MS Office skills, particularly Excel, and prior use of Iris / Sage systems are key. Previous experience in the health and social care sector or charity / not-for-profit organisation is advantageous.

Salary is £34, and benefits include 20 days' holiday (increasing by 1 day per year with length of service reward scheme).

4-day working week (30 hours) with hybrid working and free onsite parking.
