Heritage Ministries is in growth mode and currently looking for a COOK to join our team! The COOK is responsible for preparing resident meals as determined by daily planned menus. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve high quality food and meals in accordance with planned menus and established portion control procedures.
  • Must ensure that proper storage of raw and leftover foods follows appropriate policy, procedures and regulations.
  • Reviews daily menus for advanced preparation and thawing of food when possible or required.
  • May assist with the development and standardization of recipes, including creating new ways to present food attractively and nutritiously.
  • Takes temperatures of hot foods prior to mealtimes and records such on appropriate documents.
  • Plans cooking schedule to have food prepared on time, but not too far in advance.
  • Keeps work area clean and sanitizes work surfaces. Performs assigned cleaning duties as necessary.
  • Ensure that food items in walk-in cooler and freezer are labeled, dated, and stored correctly and rotated as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School diploma or GED/TASC equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months previous experience in a food service department or completion of appropriate training is required.
  • Must be able to meet health assessment requirements, including required testing and health documentation.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds if necessary with the ability to sit, walk, bend, and twist. Ability to engage in repetitive motions for extended times required.
