Job Summary

TheRegistered Nurse (RN) Provides direct nursing care to the residents in a safemanner and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by thecertified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state, andlocal regulations and guidelines and established facility policies andprocedures. Providing and teaching medical diagnosis, medications uses and sideeffects, and performing nursing procedures, assessing, and reporting residentchange to provider. The hiring range for this position is $39.66-$47.96. This range does not include shift differentials or other pay incentives.

Major Responsibilities

TheRegistered Nurse will:

• Providescare to residents as planned by the interdisciplinary Care Plan Team and usessafe techniques which are in accordance with the Upjohn Community Care Centerand regulatory policies and procedures.
• Assiststhe resident to achieve and maintain their highest level of functioning inaccordance with the care plan and provide input to the Nursing Supervisor forappropriate care plan changes.
• Consistentlyworks cooperatively with the Interdisciplinary Care Plan Team and families to develop,implement, and review plans of care. Maintains the resident record utilizingthe electronic medical record.
• Must useacceptable infection control procedures including Universal Precautions whenproviding care to residents.
• Cares formedical equipment and supplies used for residents to ensure proper care andcharges are made.
• Accuratelycompletes documentation in the medical record to reflect care rendered andreports significant changes in resident condition to the provider uponcompletion of the change of condition assessment or focused assessment usingthe call guidelines provided by Borgess Extendicare.
• Attendstraining programs and in-services to meet Heritage Community of Kalamazoo, the Upjohnand regulatory guidelines, including but not limited to annual skills fair andskills check.
• Reportsinoperable, faulty, or unsafe conditions, equipment, and furniture to NursingSupervisor.
• Must beable, during a facility emergency/disaster, to report to an assigned area,which will be assigned by their supervisor, and perform the necessary tasks toensure the calm, orderly and safe handling of residents, staff and public toeither move them to safety and /or remove from the threat causing theemergency/disaster.
• Otherduties as needed or assigned by supervisor.

Required Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

• Must be aRegistered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan. 
• Unencumberedby any licensing or state violations.
• Must alsomaintain the required CEU’s.

Knowledge and Critical Skills / Expertise

• Must beable to read, write and comprehend English.
• Must beable to follow written and oral instructions.
• Mustpossess psychosocial skills to be able to interact effectively with residents,staff, families and visitors.

Experience

• Mustmaintain an unencumbered nursing license in the state of Michigan. Newly licensed nurses are welcome.
