Responsibilities for the Certified Peer Support Specialist

Development and implementation of client sobriety plans. Responsible for coordination for and linkage of clients’ based upon stated needs and goals in the sobriety plans.

Effectively engages and interacts with clients and families demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.

Handles all client interactions in a courteous and professional manner using effective reflective listening skills and seeks to understand others divergent views.

Must be able to participate in weekly status meetings

Empower individuals to take ownership of long-term health and wellness

Assist individual to achieve personal independence and connect them with resources in the community.

Working with Individual with substance use disorder

Assessing for trauma Providing assistance in crisis intervention

Identify barriers both internal and external that prevent participation in community resources and develop strategies to overcome those barriers

Provide input on court forms as needed

Qualifications for the Certified Peer Support Specialist

Demonstrate long term recovery (at least 2 years is required, three years is preferred) from a Substance Use Disorder Have earned a minimum education level of GED

Demonstrate no ongoing criminal activity

Have lived experience with either mental health diagnosis or Substance Use Disorder

Maintain a current drivers license

Current with all Ohio Mental Health and Addictions state licensing requirements for peer supporters

The certified peer supporter should have knowledge or be able to attain knowledge of:

Ethics

Self help programs

Process of recovery

Medically Assisted Treatment

Local resources and services

Human Behavior and behaviors associated with addiction

Court processes

Diversity

Trauma Informed Care

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • Overnight shift

Experience:

  • Addiction counseling: 1 year (Preferred)
