GENERAL SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality patient care and assisting healthcare professionals in various clinical and administrative tasks. This is a paid position that offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the medical field.
Duties:
- Assist healthcare professionals with patient examinations and procedures
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and other relevant patient information
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies
- Administer medications, including inhalation medications, as directed by healthcare providers
- Perform basic life support measures when necessary
- Provide medical administrative support, such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling insurance paperwork
- Assist with coding and billing processes
- Educate patients on medication administration, self-care techniques, and preventive measures
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
Skills:
- Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to provide compassionate care
- Knowledge of basic life support techniques
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems is a plus
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Additional Requirements:
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum). OR
Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years. OR
Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). OR
Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. OR
Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
