The MedicalAssistant working under the supervision of the Physician, is able to provide health care assistance to individual patients and families as instructed by the Physician; draws blood and prepares specimens in treatment room; performs routine clinical procedures as directed by the Physician; participates in providing patient education; enters appropriate documentation into patients' medical records; coordinates precertification for hospital stay and procedures; communicates with referring Physicians; assists with pharmacyrequests; answers patient questions; some office/clerical duties and other duties as needed
Education: High School Diploma and graduate of an approved technical program, accredited School of Registered Nursing, School of Practical Nursing or State, or equivalent workplace experience and training
Job Knowledge: Knowledge to perform routine clinical procedures and provide quality health care assistance for patients as instructed by the -physician. Experience scheduling surgeries and obtaining pre-certifications required.
Requirements for Performance: Functions in an accurate and efficient manner in dealing with patients, families, co-workers and physicians. Demonstrates the ability to perform technical skills as instructed by the physician
Experience: Clinical experience necessary
Physical Demands: Mentally and physically healthy; Verbal and written communication skills are required
Handing of Confidential Information: Required to handle protected health information and data according to HCMC policy and all federal and state regulations
