General Statement of Duties
The position is a 260-days/8 hours per day Office Assistant III working in the Front Office at Highland Springs Elementary School beginning on 7/1/24. Starting annual salary is $39,616.12 or based on promotion policy for internal candidates (Note: Salary may be prorated dependent upon employment start date.)
• Answers telephone
• Greets visitors
• Types forms, letters, and reports from rough draft or clean copy, using a typewriter, word processing equipment, or a computer
• Operates office equipment
• Copies and distributes letters, memos, flyers, and other documents as needed
• Receives, sorts, and distributes interim reports, report cards, transcripts, and other documents as necessary
• Maintains files containing student cumulative records
• Prepares five-year old cumulative files for microfilming and shredding according to guidelines
• Registers new and transfer students
• Processes withdrawals
• Requests records from former schools; sends copies of records and/or transcripts to other schools or agencies
• Completes data processing responsibilities and associated paperwork in a timely manner according to deadlines
Essential Duties
  • Operates a computer
  • Maintains student files
  • Performs data processing tasks (entries, withdrawals, changes, scan sheets and reports)
  • Assists students, parents, faculty, and staff
  • Deals calmly with parents and patrons when they are very upset (either in person or on the phone) and is a good listener
  • Attends work daily and is engaged and on task
  • Performs other duties specific to the needs of the school as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
A high school graduate or equivalent (business school or some college preferred).
Leadership qualities and communication skills are necessary.
Ability to use computers in a broad range of applications such as but not limited to the following:
Word Processing;
Spreadsheet Data Entry and Spreadsheet Design;
Database Maintenance;
Internet Search Engines.
