Requiring someone in the Metro Atlanta area who can occasionally go to the office for meetings or events. The role can be mostly remote. This office is in Duluth GA (NE of Atlanta) rather than corporate in NW Atlanta.
Person must have % completion (percentage of completion) experience IN MANUFACTURING. They make large equipment that takes multiple years to design and fabricate so the person must have % completion in manufacturing. Someone from construction which has construction % completion will not be considered unless they also have strong manufacturing experience also.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sr Project Accountant is responsible for project accounting activities and works with project management and production team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of project results. The position is responsible for monitoring progress of projects, investigating variances, monitoring revenues, expenses, and progress billings. The Sr Project Accountant is accountable for reviewing, reconciling, and investigating WIP balances and project related accounts (ex. unbilled revenue, unearned revenue) on monthly basis. This role provides oversight and coordination of staff of accountants and clerks working with projects. The Project Accountant assists the controller and assistant controller and VP of Finance on achieving departmental and divisional goals and objectives. The Sr Project Accountant works closely with the Project Managers and provides financial and accounting guidance and insight on project planning, forecasting, budgeting, and individual project performance, and results.Candidate must be Metro Atlanta based so that the person can go to the office occasionally for meetings but the role can be mostly remote. This position is based in Canton, GA or Duluth, GA.Responsibilities:
Assure that Percent of Completion accounting is being executed and recorded per US GAAP and that processes are in place for the business to understand and follow the requirements.
Support the business in achieving the financial targets per project, including leveraging and managing risks and opportunities with the PM's
Manage and Maintain project backlog and sub ledgers and monitor variances on jobs
Works with project managers and accounting to ensure costs are hitting the jobs correctly
Monthly close processing including review and approve journal entries, accruals, and analysis
Prepare monthly financial reporting package for review by Project Managers and Controllers
