Description

The Climate and Resiliency team at Hennepin County Disparities Reduction line of business is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to support our climate mitigation work. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders across the public, private, and non-profit sectors to accelerate the decarbonization within Hennepin County, in line with our commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Project Manager will be responsible for the efficient execution and management of a variety of countywide and grant-funded initiatives related to energy planning, and clean transportation.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed at the Hennepin County Government Center 300 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55487, 625 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, between 8 am - 4:30 pm with flexibility. While this position is hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will:
  • Lead, coordinate, and oversee the execution of the planning, development, and implementation of projects aimed at enhancing communitywide sustainable transportation, energy efficiency, weatherization, and renewable energy.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and nurture strategic partnerships to ensure that projects incorporate equity, community participation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, including staff and partnerships. Communicate in a timely and professional manner on behalf of the Climate and Resiliency department with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the progress of decarbonization projects in Hennepin County, ensuring alignment with state and county emission reduction goals.
  • Identify grant opportunities, write proposals, and manage grant-funded programs to support county initiatives.
  • Identify Federal, State, local, and utility energy conservation initiatives, programs, and rebates, and communicate these with internal and external stakeholders.
Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in any field and a minimum of two courses in research methods, analysis, statistics, project management, planning or evaluation and four years or more of relevant planning analyst experience.
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in one of the fields listed below and three years or more of relevant planning analyst experience.
    • Master's degree or higher in one of the fields listed below and two years or more of relevant planning analyst experience.
    • Ph.D. degree in business administration, public administration, research methods, statistics, behavioral/social science, public health, computer science/MIS, management science, urban/city planning, or a field appropriate to the area of specialization.

  • Experience:
    • Leading clean-energy federal and local grant applications.
    • Planning, implementing, and monitoring clean energy projects.
    • Working with/in local government, non-for-profit organizations in weatherization, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
    • Embedding environmental justice and disparity reduction in climate work.
  • Ability to:
    • Identify and solve problems using data and apply analytical and creative thinking to make data-informed recommendations.
    • Build and nurture collaborative relationships with a variety of business partners and stakeholders.
