Job Description
Position: Payer Relations Account Manager Status: Full-time, Exempt
Supervisor: VP, Payer Relations & Network Development Date: June 23, 2023
The Account Manager develops and manages relationships between HoG and assigned accounts. The Account Manager represents the entire range of products and services to assigned accounts while assisting with developing, implementing, and maintaining strategic plans designed to foster account retention and growth. This includes but is not limited to contract negotiations, analysis, and follow-up to ensure all required elements are in place to meet the specific terms of the agreement. The Account Manager must develop a thorough understanding of HoG and its products and services. This is an onsite position and is not eligible to work remotely.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of seven years sales and/or direct customer facing experience, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • A minimum of 3 years payer relations experience, including navigation of revenue cycle processes from Prior Authorization through Denial and Appeal management.
  • Understanding of Commercial, Government and Self-Insured Health plans and pharmacy benefit managers.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships/earn credibility with internal and external customers.
  • Skilled in payer contract negotiations.
  • Understanding of 340B pricing model is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Highly developed time management skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities with a high degree of initiative required.
  • Proven solid team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to develop, plan and implement short- and long-term goals.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong team player who brings initiative, positivity and creativity to the table
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and any required software used by department.
  • Candidate must be fluent in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work productively, effectively, and efficiently with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships built on trust and excellent results.
  • Resolve payer issues and oversee conflict resolution between payers and Hemophilia of Georgia.
  • Provide support to the Accounts Receivable team as needed to ensure timely reimbursement by leveraging key contacts at payers.
  • Take a collaborative approach to contract negotiations, and drive contract review and rollout processes.
  • Seek competitive insights and intelligence to inform Hemophilia of Georgia of challenges and opportunities in the marketplace.
  • Proactively identify problems and take initiative to develop associated solutions.
  • Through ongoing contact with account representatives, identify situations that may signal opportunities for growth and drive related initiatives.
  • Promote a patient centered culture that strives to exceed needs and expectations by educating and developing rapport with external customers.
  • Serve as advocate for external customers by engaging and facilitating internal dialogue as necessary to support the customer relationship.
  • Learn the strengths and weaknesses of internal and external customers and share ideas, resources and expertise to enhance performance.
  • Identify payer relations challenges/trends and work to address them.
  • Develop a cadence for interactions with assigned accounts as needed to promote a solid partnership.
  • Maintain and augment departmental resources and collateral to support business development.
  • Manage credentialing and other contract administration functions as required.
  • Develop and maintain contract summary sheets for assigned accounts and ensure accurate data is shared with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Attend trade shows and conferences as assigned.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Vice President, Payer Relations.
