Job Description Job Description Salary: $80,000-$90,000This is a full-time onsite position in Seattle, WA, which reports to the Human Resources Manager in partnership and collaboration with our leadership team. Option to work one day remote.Job responsibilities include:Employee Relations: Provides a direct, timely, accessible, and highly responsive resource for all employment matters.Proactively identifies opportunities to enhance the employee experience and help develop and implement innovative solutions and policies.Leverages deep understanding of the business and employees to identify issues, diagnose causes, provide insights, offer recommendations, and develop proactive solutions to build and foster a positive working culture.Coach org-wide leaders to execute People and Culture strategies that foster growth, innovation, and organizational compliance and effectiveness.Assists the leadership team with employee relations matters with your awareness, compassion, coaching, and mediation/de-escalation abilities.Participates in team and group meetings such as leadership team meetings, monthly staff meetings, training sessions, etc. maintaining the highest standards of meeting facilitation, courtesy and respect.Oversees the performance evaluation and promotion processes, tools, and documentation, and guides leaders effectively.Creates a consistent procedure and process of documentation relating to disciplinary actions while partnering with the HR team on corrective actions, documentation, performance coaching, or other actions for team members.Identifies training opportunities and develops as needed.Conducts exit interviews and compiles statistical reports and information.Maintains strict confidentiality throughout conversations and investigations; exercises sound judgment in handling or working with confidential data and situations.Additional support, initiatives, and projects as assigned.HR Administration: Continuously review processes to ensure DEIAB is considered and integrated into operational planning, staff education, and decision making.Reviews and maintains company organization charts, employee directory, job descriptions, and other tools used for communicating to and guiding all staff members.Ensures compliance with all existing employment related regulatory bodies and labor requirements (e.g., EEO, ADA, FMLA, WA PFML, DOL, OSHA, etc.).Employee Full Life-Cycle Management: Works with managers on maintaining best practice regarding new employee onboarding, offboarding and orientation.Staff & Leadership Training and Development: Assists the leadership team with employee relations and leadership skills training with your expertise, compassion, coaching, and mediation/de-escalation abilities.Trains and guides the team on processes and policies to ensure equity and consistency on employment related policies and matters.Provides guidance and training to all staff on updates in human resource programs, policies, and procedures, including DEIAB.Facilitates outside trainers as appropriate for ongoing skill development.Qualifications:A minimum of 4 years of Employee Relations experience is required.Experience in a laboratory/life science work environment is preferred.BA/BS in related discipline is required.A Human Resources certification (SHRM/HRCI) is preferred.Strong working knowledge of state and federal employment laws including but not limited to: FLSA, NLRA, Title VII, ADA, OSHA, etc.Demonstrated strong experience and knowledge in employment law and employee relations procedures, principles, and processes.Demonstrated ability to manage an employee relations investigation from notification through resolution.Also required are: Excellent communication (verbally and in writing) and presentation skills.A growth mindset; always looking at how to do things better.Technology curiousness and adeptness.A team-centric work style: i.e., you like to help, you know what you should be doing so others do not, and you thrive on helping others to be better at their jobs.Your objective, unbiased, and calm interactions with others, and a sense of humor.Full-time physical presence at our Seattle laboratory is an essential job function of this role, with limited possibilities for remote work (such as 1 day per week). This position requires you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
