As a Video Software Engineer, you'll work on our backend systems and core game engine that allow video to be used in the metaverse. This team owns the core and fundamental video capabilities of the Roblox game engine.
You Will:

• Report into the Engineering Manager
• Help implement our vision for video in the metaverse.
• Adapt performance for the best quality on all platforms from low end phones to high-end desktops.
• Take a practical approach to apply research efforts into the Roblox products.
• Collaborate with different teams to improve existing and develop new functionality, pipelines, and workflows.
• Be guided by our vision to put the Roblox community first.

You Have:

• Experience: You have 5 years of experience developing complex applications written in C 17 running on PCs, mobile devices, or game consoles. You can also create and operate inside a micro services cloud architecture.
• Domain Knowledge: In addition to a very good on how video is compressed, delivered, and decoded. You don't have to look up the meaning of YUV or HLS. You love to pick up new technologies as the landscape evolves.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

$267,720-$331,640 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
