Job Summary:

Purchasing Manager will have daily operational responsibility for the acquisition of sourced parts requirements to sustain manufacturing operations as well as other MRO requisite tangibles that are required to fulfill manufacturing & operational needs. This position will lead the Purchasing Function for all Sarasota-based factories, with strong ties to our North American sourcing and supply chain functions in Buffalo Grove, IL and Mishawaka, IN.

• Oversee a staff of 6 , providing leadership in operational execution, strategic planning, and personnel development

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Success in this job relies heavily on a well-developed set of interpersonal or people skills. Must be able to work effectively with all levels of employees in the organization, from entry-level positions to senior management, an array of suppliers, and overseas sites
• Manage dual sourcing and risk mitigation activities with the Supply base domestically while working with regional and global partners
• Working with our regional partners sites and their materials Management teams to execute business synergies between factories for improved customer experience and cost structure
• Maintaining optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while striving to minimize inventory carrying costs and freight charges
• Lead strategic procurement assessments including make buy plans, and developing an outsourcing strategy as required ensuring total cost of ownership is evaluated
• Identifying and implementing LTAs and subcontracts
• Securing a global supply base that meets the organization’s cost targets
• Must be able to meet deadlines, multitask and work under pressure. Travel to suppliers and internal manufacturing facilities to review facility capabilities, quality systems and facilitate technical reviews
• Assist in the creating team member KPI’s
• Understand existing contracts and supplier performance, conduct gap analysis, and develop recommendations and implementation plans
• Ensures that spend not covered by strategy is well managed, via market analysis, RFP/RFQ, supplier negotiation and other activities
• Maintain accurate and timely purchasing performance metrics
• Develop and implement techniques and process improvements that impact the following
  • Quality
  • On Time Delivery (OTD)
  • Lead time of purchased parts
  • Purchasing processes

Required Skills/Abilities:

• High competence in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Access)
• Effective verbal and written communication and comfort with multi-level / multi-cultural personnel, for preparation of presentations, reports, etc.
• Project management skills a strong plus
• A strong one on one presence must be established with our domestic sources to develop a strong familiarity of the parts, capacity, capabilities, and status of inventory for reporting supply status to our operation teams. The ability to work with and develop the Supply base is critical.

Education and Experience:

• College Degree (i.e., bachelor’s degree - preferably in a Supply Chain Function) or 15 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. A master’s degree (in business, finance, information technology, or Supply Chain) is a plus
• A comprehensive knowledge of Supply Chain functions, inventory management systems, purchasing, negotiations, information systems, and ERP systems is highly beneficial
• 5 years of domestic and international purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment with strategic responsibility for procurement/planning
• Familiarity in a metal’s-based manufacturing environment to including, heat treatment, grinding, honing, and lapping a strong plus
• Experience in Supply Management of sources located in ‘Low-Cost Regions’ is a strong preference
• ISM/APICS certification a plus
