This full-time twelve-month per year position is responsible for assisting with the process of all accounts payable - requisition payment for the District and assists with the day-to-day operation of the business office. Responsible for representing the program and district in a positive way to students, staff parents and the school community. Position requires: high school diploma or equivalent; two years of accounting training or experience with a working knowledge of Spread Sheet accounting required or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the District. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Access, Excel and Word and other software programs such as iVisions is desired. Current entry level salary is $16.25/hour without in district recognized experience and includes a comprehensive benefit package.

Position Description

Job Title: District Bookkeeper – Accounts Payable
Department: Business Management Services
Reports To: Business Management Services Administrator
FLSA Status: Covered
Prepared Date: March 2020

SUMMARY: The District Bookkeeper – Accounts Payable position is responsible for assisting with the processing of all accounts payable –requisition payment for the District and assists with the day-to-day operation of the business office. Responsible for representing the program and district in a positive way to students, staff, parents, and the school community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Performs bookkeeping duties by receiving, recording, processing account documents and providing assistance with
the following:
Update accounts payable and processes requisition payment and purchase orders
Purchasing accounts
Individual School or Program accounts
Revenue accounts
Account reconciliation
Report Preparation
Computer input
Other duties as assigned
Handles telephone inquiries, routes telephone traffic, and take and deliver messages.
Be familiar with all forms and their use.
Insure confidentiality of business records.
Assist with mail processing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years of accounting training or experience with a working knowledge off Spread Sheet accounting required; or a equivalent combination of training and experience as determined by the district. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Access, Excel, and Word; and other software programs such as iVisions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of people.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to operate a personal computer and related software (spreadsheet and word processing is essential). 10-key calculator and copy machine. Patience in dealing with consumers, parents and/or guardians students and staff. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Trustee policies.

The position requires extensive computer keyboarding and monitor viewing as a condition of employment.
