Heights Philadelphia is Hiring an Accounting Coordinator/Bookkeeper Near Philadelphia, PA
About this Role: The Bookkeeper / Accounting Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping for the organization, including maintenance of accounts payable and receivable, daily financial entries, and monthly reconciliations. The staff member will be responsible for managing and preparing monthly credit card reconciliations for review and approval and follow-up with staff and students regarding expenses as necessary. This position will work closely with all areas of the Heights organization and overall administrative team as it relates to the financial operations of the organization.
You’ll help us to achieve:
Accurate record keeping and maintenance of organization’s financial transactions: accounts payable and receivable, daily financial entries and monthly reconciliations.
Accountability on organizational revenue and expenses
You’ll be responsible for:
Maintaining general ledgers including accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, bank reconciliation, preparation of month-end and year-end close reports
Managing and preparing monthly credit card expense reports for Heights and entering them into our accounting systems
Processing any checks received, providing copies to the Advancement team for processing and Director of Finance for review
Handling accounts payable for administrative expense related invoices
Liaising with the Advancement team regarding online donations, and recording income in QuickBooks Online
Supporting the Finance team to prepare monthly financial statements for staff, Board of Directors and auditors
Daily management of SAP Concur invoice and expense reports, reviewing submitted documents, coding and following up with staff as needed
In conjunction with Director of Finance, supporting staff compliance with accounting processes, troubleshooting issues and concerns as necessary
Maintenance of general accounting email, processing invoices for approval and troubleshooting as needed
Coordinating with Program and Advancement regarding distribution of annual and seasonal scholarships and stipends, ensuring compliance with renewal requirements
About you:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar required
Experience with non-profit bookkeeping / accounting required
Experience with SAP Concur Invoice and Expense platform preferred
Passionate about educational access for underserved communities
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and evident ability to handle multiple projects
Skilled in collecting data, analyzing data, and creating reports or evaluations
Ability to think strategically, identify potential problems, innovate, and provide proactive solutions
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross programmatically with staff, families, students, external partners / vendors and Board members
Heights employees:
Must meet expectations to report in-person on a schedule determined by their direct manager and/or the Vice President of the team.
Must meet PA State background check requirements [PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check] at hire and every five years thereafter.
Must be authorized to work in the United States and complete an I-9 employment verification form.
Strong orientation to customer service, particularly with regard to students, partners and colleagues
Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and related applications, as well as use of general office equipment (phones, computers, copiers, etc)
Fluency in the use of data and data systems. Maintains appropriate engagement with data entry, reporting and review.
Must adhere to COVID safety guidelines as established by Heights and/or its partners.

Must be able to work in a busy, often complex work environment that is generally climate controlled.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
