This exciting opportunity is ideal for a seasoned Concrete executive looking to leverage their experience and help drive market share and margin growth through our digital & sustainability solutions, while ensuring that leading practices are shared, implemented, and sustained.

The Vice President Competence Center Concrete (CCR) for North America will be based in Irving, Texas and report to the Chief Executive Officer of North America, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director of Global CCR.

What you’ll get to do

  • Provide strategic guidance and technical leadership support to North America Ready Mix businesses.
  • Implement continuous improvement and best practice sharing culture within Ready Mix Concrete, both across North America and with global peers.
  • Help drive customer interest and company execution of our digital and sustainability solutions.
  • Establish performance metrics (KPI systems) to systematically evaluate the performance of our RMC operations and utilize the tools to drive cost reduction improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Liaise with other Heidelberg Materials technical centers in Cement, Aggregates, and Asphalt to support global initiatives and objectives.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of appropriate training for Ready Mix Concrete personnel such as customer service, supervisory, and safety.
  • Ensure RMC leading practices, solutions, and new ideas are shared and implemented, leveraging regional expertise in order to meet the requirements of regional market and local business needs.
  • Collaborate with region leadership team members to drive the development of competent Ready Mix Concrete supervisors and managers through coaching, training, and active involvement succession planning.
  • Ensure that we are connected to the external market and that we stay apprised of innovations and technology that can improve efficiencies and/or reduce costs.
  • Lead and influence key industry associations including NRMCA.
  • Participate in M&A due diligence and joint venture work as needed.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree. MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years progressive experience in building materials with a track record of business development and operations success.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Professional competence with strong industry knowledge and understanding of the Concrete market and products.
  • Innate continuous improvement mindset, process methodology skills, and impressive change management capability.
  • Commitment to sustainable management, championing safety and complying with anti-trust, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Entrepreneurial management skills, excellent financial acumen, and the demonstrated ability to consider long-term risks and opportunities.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
