Hedley & Bennett is Hiring a People Operations Manager Near Los Angeles, CA

We are on a mission to inspire and empower creativity and confidence in the kitchen. Since 2012, we’ve been hustling to make the hardest working, best looking aprons and kitchen gear in the world. As the People Operations Manager, you will be the culture champion at Hedley & Bennett, focusing on employee appreciation, benefits, and the overall employee lifecycle. You will also be the first point of contact for employee relations, compliance, and talent management. This is hybrid role based in Vernon, CA with 3 days a week in office reporting to the CEO & CFO.

What You'll Do

Onboarding

  • Draft documents related to employment and contractor engagements, including offer letters, contracts and equity documents
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure each new hire is set up for success
  • Serve as the new employee’s first point of contact on Day 1, providing an orientation and serving as the employee’s guide through onboarding. Improve the onboarding process as necessary

Payroll and Benefits

  • Run bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
  • Review the commissions for the sales team to ensure proper classification of sales and payments
  • Respond to and address any questions or challenges related to benefits, healthcare, paid time off, and medical leaves
  • Lead the open enrollment period and ensure all staff have adequate information to make informed decisions

Employee Experience

  • Maintain digital copies of employees' records
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees, including complex and/or sensitive matters

Oversee and continuously improve an effective performance review process

  • Support managers through the employee lifecycle, such as performance improvement plans, disciplinary measures, and employee termination as needed
  • Maintain the company Quarterly eNPS survey at a company and department level

Employee Policies & Procedures

  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Ensure that the company has clear and up-to-date policies and procedures for all necessary topics in accordance with HR best practices and parent company requirements
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance and maintain employee handbooks and written policies.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of all policies

Office Management

  • Order and stock office supplies, helping manage office budget in partnership with senior leadership
  • Key point of contact for building management and the primary person managing building vendors and office mailbox
  • Responsible for stocking the kitchen and bi-weekly lunch ordering
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
