More Than a Job, It's a Calling: Be the Heart of our Childcare Center

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Childcare Center Director to lead our team in providing exceptional care and education to our young learners in the city of Long Beach.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the center ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all children.
  • Provide Develop and implement a stimulating and age-appropriate curriculum and activities, fostering the intellectual, social, and emotional development of children.
  • Provide effective leadership, coaching, and supervision to staff members, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and families, keeping them informed and involved in their children's development.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as budgeting, scheduling, and recordkeeping, while maintaining compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Demonstrate a genuine love for children and a commitment to upholding the organization's core values in all aspects of your role.
  • Skilled in implementing creative strategies to build positive, high-performing, and energized teams.

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • The childcare director shall be at least 21 years of age.
  • The childcare director shall have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).
  • Must have 12 units in early childhood education and development, and 3 units in administration or staff relations, and at least 3 semester units must be related to the care of infants

Education Requirements:

  • Four years teaching of experience in a licensed childcare center or comparable group childcare program is also required.

OR

  • Have an Associate of Arts Degree in Child Development which includes 3 semester units of administration or staff relations, at least 3 semester units must be related to the care of infants and two years of teaching experience.

OR

  • Have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child Development which includes 3 semester units of administration, at least 3 semester units must be related to the care of infants and one year teaching experience.

OR

  • Have a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

In addition to the above requirements, candidate must be willing to complete 16 hours of Health and Safety training including: Pediatric CPR, Pediatric First Aid and Preventive Health Practices that included 1 hour of childhood nutrition

  • Demonstrated experience working with young children in an educational setting, fostering their growth and development.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, capable of effectively leading, motivating, and inspiring a team of childcare professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, ensuring clear and positive interactions with staff, parents, and children.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of child development principles and best practices, incorporating them into program design and daily operations.
  • Familiarity with licensing regulations and requirements, maintaining the center's compliance and ensuring a safe environment for all.
