Responsibilities

  • Throwing repetitive forms on the wheel based on technical drawings, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to recognize subtle differences in design
  • Cast, clean, and prepare slip-cast ware for firing with an emphasis on quality control and attention to detail
  • Glaze production pieces with an emphasis on consistency in production and experimentation during product development
  • Contribute to custom projects
  • Load and unload electric kilns
  • Clean and pack finished work for delivery
  • Manage and use time efficiently
  • Communicate and document work progress daily
  • Be able to handle general studio maintenance and engineer solutions for continual improvement
  • Coordinate with creative, production, operations, and retail teams to ensure tasks are completed on time and information is shared in a timely way

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3 years minimum studio pottery experience
  • Must have strong throwing ability on the potter’s wheel
  • Glazing experience with a spray gun
  • Working knowledge of the slip-casting and mold-making process
  • Experience loading and maintaining electric kilns
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • G Suite experience a plus

Work Environment/ Hours / Compensation

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits working Monday through Friday, 10 am-6 pm, or at an agreed upon schedule with the Clay Studio Manager. This position is 100% onsite at our San Francisco Boiler Room Studio. This position pays $30/ per hour. This role reports to the Clay Studio Manager.
