Job Description:

The Senior Direct Support Professional (SDSP) is directly responsible for the overall supervision of staff for the day habilitation programs. The ideal candidate in this role will be responsible to maintain the staff's focus on maximizing both program services and personalized community inclusion opportunities for individuals, as well as providing for their overall physical and emotional well-being.

Job Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Program Planning Team (PPT), assist in developing and writing services, goals and outcomes for all individuals at the programs. Ensure that services, goals and outcomes reflect the needs of the individuals.
  • Goal development process to include task analysis and methods for carrying out agreed upon goals. Goals to be reviewed monthly and/or updated/revised as determined by program specific responsibilities.
  • Supervise Direct Support Professionals in implementing agreed upon goals/valued outcomes and assisting them in training/teaching individual program participants. 
  • Participate in the PPT meetings and prepare written and/or oral progress reports per specific program responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to prepare weekly staff schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining positive communications with family members, advocates, and service providers as per program needs.
  • Engage in ongoing and timely supervision of assigned staff (DSP), including observations, individual monthly staff supervision and annual performance appraisals. 
  • Provide in-service training for assigned Direct Support Professionals, as required and assigned by the Program Coordinator.
  • Document necessary information and data in areas such as medical, behavioral, individualized services, goals and outcomes, fire safety, vehicle logs, community inclusion, communication books, etc., ensuring their accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree, Associates Degrees preferred, or some college credits.
  • Minimum of two (2) years or more experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Prior staff supervision experience strongly preferred.
  • NYS State driver's license required.
  • Strong written, verbal and math skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite 365.
