Description

Job Summary

To provide a healthy menu and meet dietary needs for the individuals residing in the program and working in collaboration with Residence management team. Also maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the residential program.

We are looking for an experienced cook and housekeeper to help cook and maintain cleanliness for our Bay Ridge residential program! This is a FULL-TIME position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the residence, with desired goal of a clean, clutter-free and odor-free environment.
  • Conducts daily cleaning according to schedule set by residential management, including all bathrooms and common areas (kitchen, living room, dining room, etc.)
  • Conducts regular cleaning of resident’s bedrooms, including ensuring beds are made and clothing is picked up from floor, according to schedule set by residential management.
  • Conducts regular cleaning of other designated areas in residence according to schedule set by residential management.
  • Ensures garbage is bagged and disposed of properly. Picks up any outside garbage on residence lawn and sidewalk in conjunction with DSP staff.
  • Immediately reports any furniture or equipment in disrepair to residential management.
  • Ensures sufficient inventory of cleaning supplies at all times.
  • Conducts walk through of entire residence and completes physical plant checklist in conjunction with residential management on at least a monthly basis.
  • Adheres to all HeartShare Cleanliness Standards and guidelines.
  • Meets regularly with residence management. Agenda of meeting will be set by both management and housekeeper.
  • Maintains professionalism by using positive approaches when handling difficult situations. Avoids gossip and negative discussions. Is flexible and adapts to change.
  • Advocates appropriately and professionally on behalf of individuals.
  • Serves as a role model for individuals and co-workers. Abides by division’s dress code. Conducts oneself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Remains sensitive, respectful and responsive to cultural differences of all individuals, program staff, and the surrounding community.
  • Participate sin staff meetings, in-service trainings and on-site workshops as required for professional growth and development. Attends external trainings and workshops at direction of direct supervisor or program management.
  • Represents HeartShare both within and outside the organization in a manner that promotes the mission, vision and values of the agency. Personally adheres to all other agency policies and procedures.
  • Undertakes any additional tasks and initiatives as per the specific needs of the programs and individuals and as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications


Qualifications
You are a good fit if you have:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year or more work experience as a cook and housekeeper
  • A flexible work schedule.
