HeartPlace - US Heart and Vascular has an excellent full time employment opportunity, with benefits, for an experienced Customer Service/Patient Account Representative at its Corporate Home Offices located in Far North Dallas, TX. Prior recent working experience in a healthcare call center environment is required.

Bilingual is preferred.

General Summary
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs customer service support functions on patient accounts. Identifies and resolves patient account problems either by phone contact and/or correspondence.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1 Investigates, researches, resolves, and documents the resolution of problems with patient accounts.

2. Receives all customer account questions and concerns. Responds to and follows through on patient inquiries to assure patient satisfaction.

3. Works closely with insurance companies to research and resolve patient account problems and communicates outcome to the customer/patient.

4. Prepares appropriate documents in order to make adjustments to the patient’s account.

5. Identifies and corrects coding errors, charges posted in error, and other patient problems that occur on patient accounts.

6. Researches, reviews, and processes refunds to patient accounts and to insurance companies.

7. At all times protects the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) of patients per HIPAA regulations; does not normally have business need for seeing PHI of employees.

8. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.

9. Performs other duties as required.

10. May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions.

11. Works onsite within the clinic during scheduled hours. Regular attendance is an

essential part of this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

1 Minimum high school diploma / GED equivalent. Work requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a high school education in order to obtain written and oral communication skills.

2. Work requires a minimum of 6 months of medical office experience, 12 months preferred.

3. Familiar with computerized billing systems, acquire knowledge of patient account database and EOBs.

4. ICD and CPT coding and insurance processing required.

5. Excellent knowledge of EMR systems, Microsoft Office products such as Outlook,

Microsoft Access, Excel and Word software and basic office equipment such as computers, printers, 

fax machines and scanners. Cardiology practice experience preferred.

6. Fluently speaks, reads, and writes English.

7. Understanding of OSHA requirements in a clinical setting.

8. Understanding of HIPAA requirements.

9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

10. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: standing, 

bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting supplies or equipment, walking for extended 

periods of time, and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 50 pounds.

11. Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.
