Scope:

The Inbound Quality Assurance Specialist leads monitoring programs for materials and packaging including – sampling, testing, and reporting compliance to internal specifications and international regulations. In addition, this role helps to coordinate the material extension process. Finally, this individual monitors traceability and quality of the department responsible for building custom displays. This role requires an organized individual to complete projects and tasks in a thorough manner and on a timely basis. Organizational skills are required as this position requires documentation of permanent records for the company and its customers.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Review certificates of analysis for accuracy and completeness against internal specifications.
  • Manage testing on incoming ingredients and packaging according to defined schedules.
  • Work with the Inbound team to collect and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Release incoming raw materials and packaging based on results of certificates of analysis, testing, and laboratory analysis.
  • Responsible for cataloguing production retention samples from receiving and manufacturing.
  • Responsible for the management of the material extension process.
  • Works with Logistics to verify the status of hold materials – labeled, stored, and systematically compliant with procedures.
  • Primary point of contact within the quality organization for review of expired, expiring, and obsolete materials.
  • Participates in all traceability exercises as a subject matter expert for inventory.
  • Organize and file certificates of analysis and positive release records.
  • Responsible for quality in the displays area of the distribution center.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or Biology required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient command of English and strong communication skills required – both verbal and written.
  • Bilingual or multilingual is a plus.
  • Previous Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience required.
  • Experience in the food industry with SQF, GMPs, and HACCP required.
  • Prior experience within a warehouse environment and familiarity with receiving practices is preferred.
  • Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills.
  • Must have good computer skills, including an understanding of Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and communicate well with all departments.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours.
  • Must possess visual acuity to document company records.
  • Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center.
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds
