The Heartland Team is looking for a dedicated and experienced Residential Affordable Housing Lender to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in expanding access to affordable housing options for individuals and families in our community. You will be responsible for assessing loan applications, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

A typical day might include the following:

  • Evaluate loan applications for residential affordable housing program eligibility, conduct financial analysis of applicants for creditworthiness, and work closely with the underwriting team.
  • Join and establish relationships with organizations whose missions are consistent with Affordable Housing outreach and homebuyer education.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of current loan programs, services, operations, and marketing policies.
  • Monitor the financial health of affordable housing projects and provide recommendations for improvements or interventions when necessary.
  • Attend and participate in the required training activities as appropriate.
  • Participate in and/or lead community outreach efforts that are not limited to education and promotion of the bank in the communities that we serve.
  • Assist and participate in community and business development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and internal policies, procedures, and Regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in residential lending, with a focus on affordable housing.
  • Strong knowledge of affordable housing financing programs, including FHA, OHFA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Microsoft Windows Applications and Encompass Loan Origination Software

  • Climate-controlled office environment. Consistently travel via automobile to customer offices around Central Ohio
