Healthier Mississippi People is Hiring a Payroll and Benefits Administrator Near Jackson, MS

Description

Healthier Mississippi Collaborative (HMC) is searching for a highly-motivated, hands-on Payroll Administrator. This is a newly created position that emanated from our need to establish an HR function in a newly launched venture. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working in a fast-paced and complex work environment, demonstrates a high aptitude to thoroughly analyze challenges, has a proven ability to develop innovative, creative solutions, and has experience with both payroll and benefits administration. You will have daily exposure to the management within our client organizations – with an opportunity to learn the business quickly and make a serious impact. This position reports to the Executive Director of Human Resources.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the overall administration of the payroll process, with periodic benefits administration responsibilities. This position will allow for great input in the development and execution of human resources strategies, policies, and procedures. This is a premier opportunity for a self-starter looking to assume greater responsibility and to demonstrate capacity to assume greater responsibility within the company.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures all employee information has been returned or is entered correctly by the employee through the Paychex system.
  • Ensures that employee has received a link to external provider and chosen benefits options.
  • Ensures that all benefits eligible employees have been offered 401k through external provider.
  • Once elections have been made, ensures that all choices are entered correctly into Paychex for proper payroll processing.
  • Once Health selection made, ensures employee information is entered into external provider system.
  • Tracks payroll requests (PTO requests etc.) to ensure payroll runs smoothly.
  • Prepares payroll invoice report for HMP to submit to clients for proper payment according to established process.
  • Prepares payroll, including calculating PTO, Hard2Fill shift bonuses and other bonuses to be paid to employees.
  • Prepares payroll in Paychex for submission to Paychex.
  • Submits accurate payroll through Paychex and sends required Paychex payroll reports to HMP Leadership.
  • Prepares Labor Distribution Report for submission to clients according to established process.
  • Prepares all accounts payable for payment according to terms and established process.
  • Submits accurate payment to Vendors according to established process.
  • Performs periodic bank reconciliation, notifies leadership of discrepancies.
  • Assists in preparing employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Retains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Requirements

 Required Skills / Qualifications

  • You have a bachelor's degree and five years of payroll and benefits administration experience.
  • Accounting experience is a huge plus.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting a huge plus.
  • You are proficient with technology and computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and payroll processing software.
  • You have a proven ability to work with diverse populations and across organizational lines, and to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative human resource solutions.
  • Written and oral communication skills are on point, with the ability to present with professionalism, poise, and polish interacting effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Proven effectiveness working with remote managers and teammates.
  • You have a strong knowledge of payroll processing, with a high attention to detail.
  • You are comfortable with both creative and analytical tasks and have the ability to effectively execute multiple projects concurrently.
