How YOU will make a Difference:

The overall purpose of this role is to support the administration of COBRA eligibility. The Specialist will ensure timely notification and processing of benefits as required to meet Federal regulations. This role serves as an important resource partner to our clients regarding COBRA questions, workflows and Member support.

What YOU will do:

  • On-boarding new clients to include participation in the COBRA implementation overview and action plan.
  • Coordinate a successful transition plan from previous administrator to HMA.
  • Manage eligibility updates and termination reasons within HMA systems.
  • Perform duties as the subject matter expert of COBRA administration.
  • Provide guidance and direction to back-office vendor team related to COBRA processing tasks.
  • Ensure that federal requirements including turn- around time for election notices and payment processing is met.
  • Act as point of contact for COBRA escalations, working to successfully resolve issues for Clients and members.
  • Assist Clients with open enrollment communication for COBRA members as needed.
  • Provide standard reporting packages to Clients.

Knowledge, Experience, and Key Attributes needed for Success: 

  • Associate’s degree focused on health informatics or business administration preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience working in healthcare and/or benefits is required. 
  • 5 years of experience working with COBRA is preferred. 
  • 5 years of client or member facing experience required. 
  • Detail oriented with the ability to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and sense of urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to compose communications with members.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as provide team support when needed.

CompensationThe base salary range for this position in the greater Seattle area is $28/hr - $36/hr for a level II and varies dependent on geography, skills, experience, education, and other job or market-related factors. While we are looking for level II, we may consider level III for highly qualified candidates.
