Due to growth, Health Alternative Systems (H.A.S.) is searching for a Behavioral Health Manager. This role will coach and mentor a team of professionals in addition to managing a small caseload. Behavioral Health recovery-based services may include, but are not limited to assessments, service plan development, case management, housing support, skills training, group facilitation, crisis intervention, and individual and/or group therapy. The Behavioral Health Manager leads and supports all Mental Health Clinicians, Service Coordinators, Interns and Peer staff on clinical and documentation questions. The qualified individual must have an MSW or MS in a related field and an LCSW.

What is the opportunity?

Under the leadership of the Program Director, the Behavioral Health Manager's position is responsible for the clinical supervision of Mental Health Clinicians, and Interns and assisting the Program Director. More specifically the duties are as follows:

  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain community collaborations and referral processes with all
  • grantee agencies and other service providers.
  • Coordinate monthly communication with community and referral partners to ensure
  • service deliver access and changes in staffing or program requirements, etc.; Share
  • information frequently with the Program Director and completing reports weekly.
  • Directly manage and conduct weekly supervision meetings with Mental Health/Intern Staff to ensure well-being of staff and their caseload and provide opportunities for staff feedback and communication.
  • Ensure that all required grant data is entered weekly and reviewed to ensure program
  • quality and to observe any gaps in service.
  • Provide vision and leadership to HAS mental health initiatives, programming, policies,
  • and resources as well as assistance with policy implementation.
  • Lead collaboration efforts across relevant HAS departments and facilitate relationships to
  • ensure internal alignment of efforts to achieve cross-cutting Mental Health initiatives,
  • including the centralized referrals process.
  • Establish professional development strategy and opportunities for Mental Health Staff
  • and Interns and provide collaborative educational opportunities across the agency.
  • Engage strategic partners to create referrals including but not limited to hospital systems,
  • healthcare providers and systems, and community-based organizations.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies that promote mental
  • health and substance use support among participants and staff.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of internal and external communication
  • strategy in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Monitor budgets and expenses related to mental health initiatives.
  • Work in collaboration with grant writing and management as needed.
  • Conduct frequent research on current resources, policies, best practices, and guidance that
  • may impact outcomes of Mental Health Treatment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health related field and LCSW (Required).
  • Two plus years' Management/Supervisor experience (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of the theories, principles and techniques of family, group and individual
  • therapy, as well as the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive
  • service plans.
  • Experience & knowledge of principles and techniques surrounding diagnostic
  • assessment and interviewing, and the social, psychological, and physical aspects of
  • mental disorders.
  • Work experience with persons who have substance abuse problems and
  • individuals who are dually diagnosed with mental health & substance abuse (Preferred).
  • Experience working with adults and adolescents (Preferred).
  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of 12-Step Programs and/or personal experience with substance abuse
  • recovery is (Preferred).

Job Location: Working in person primarily at our locations in Chicago on Armitage Ave. and Fullerton Ave. Monday-Friday, onsite, with some flexibility to work evening hours if needed. Also, some travel to other Chicagoland or suburban locations as needed.
