Headings Immigration Law is a solo immigration law practice based in North Seattle representing clients who are pursuing family visas, humanitarian benefits, citizenship, and removal relief before the various immigration agencies. We are committed to providing high quality and compassionate legal services to clients from all walks of life from around the world.

Headings Immigration Law is seeking a part-time legal assistant with Spanish language skills to work on site with the attorney in serving our clientele. The Legal Assistant will screen prospective clients and schedule consultations; manage and update client files; perform translations of documents; serve as occasional interpreter for client meetings; respond to client inquiries and gather information from clients for case preparation. The Legal Assistant will also assist attorney with entry-level paralegal work, including applications for employment authorization and advance parole, changes of address, criminal background checks and records requests, requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and drafting of other immigration forms.

Legal Assistant Preferred Qualifications:

· Spanish fluency, both spoken and written

· Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, or two years experience in a relevant field

· Commitment to immigrant rights

· Computer literacy, including experience with MS Word, Excel, One Drive

· Experience using CLIO case management a plus

· Strong written and oral communication skills

· Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple tasks

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

· Ability to provide friendly and welcoming client service by phone, in person, or via e-mail

· Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and take on new responsibilities

This part-time position requires 20-25 hours a week on-site in our office in north Seattle. Training will be provided, and the position provides an excellent entry into the practice of law and entry-level paralegal work. Salary is negotiable, depending on experience.
