Job Summary
The front desk associate is the first point of contact when a patient arrives into our facility. They act as a liaison to usher patients into the practice. Hence, this is a role that requires great communication and interpersonal skills. The role also requires exceptional critical thinking skills, to evaluate patient needs and directing them to the appropriate service, or team members.
Responsibilities and Duties
*Answering phones and directing calls appropriately
*Checking patients in (copy insurance card, verifying demographic, see that appropriate paperwork is completed)
*Collecting copayment prior to appointment
*Scheduling any needed follow up appointments
*Taxonimizing and maintaining any clinical or diagnostic information delivered by labs, clinics, etc.
*Assisting the surgery schedulers and business office staff on an as-needed basis
*Working with supervisors and organizational leadership to create systematic improvements
Qualifications and Skills
It is required that any applicant have a high school diploma or equivalent. Any leadership experience in a medical office setting is ideal to fulfill the roles responsibilities. MS Office knowledge, familiarity with office machines (fax, copy, scan) and proper email etiquette is desired. Front desk personnel are expected to work in close contact with the care providers, patients and with co-workers, therefore, it is preferred that applicants have excellent interpersonal communication skills. The ability to maintain composure under pressure is a must. Personal transportation to our clinic and satellite clinics is expected (reimbursement may be discussed).
