HCA SOLUTIONS is Hiring a Dental Assistant Near Bryan, TX

HCA Solutions is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Dental Assistant at Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, TX. This is a long term placement contract. The Dental Assistant position is expected to be 8 hours per day, with the work hours normally between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm Monday-Friday, excluding Federal Holidays.

DESCRIPITION OF DUTIES
The Dental Assistant contractors shall generally provide the following services which may include, but are not limited to, the items listed below. Therefore, the contractor shall be capable of performing any and all Dental Assistant procedures needed without any technical support. The contractor(s) will generally work under the supervision of the Chief Dentist.

  • Assists the Dental Officer in dental specialty sections restorative, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, endodontics, and examinations.
  • Retrieves patients' records and escorts patients to proper dental specialty section.
  • Seats and prepares patient for attending Dental Officer.
  • Assists Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments, essential materials, drugs and medications.
  • Passes instruments, retracts tissues, irrigates oral cavity, and operates aspirator.
  • Observes patients' responses, and assists patient for dismissal from Dental clinic.
  • Gives instructions for subsequent dental appointments.
  • Makes necessary entries on dental treatment records.
  • Prepares dental treatment room for next patient.
  • Assists in the treatment of emergency cases.
  • Maintains dental equipment; cleans, sharpens, and sterilizes instruments; performs daily inspection of equipment, and makes minor repairs; reports defective equipment, or utilizes corrective action.
  • Prepares entries for patients' records.
  • Selects and applies medication in proper portion and anti-cariogenic agents to surfaces of teeth; applies medication prescribed by a dental officer to gingiva to promote healing.
  • Performs procedures pursuant to fabrication and repair of complete denture prosthesis and removable partial prosthesis.
  • Takes radiographs of patients using standard dental radiographic, panelipse; obtains diagnostic quality periapical, occlusal, and panographic radiographs; correctly positions patient and film and determines level of radiation intensity to minimize radiation exposure of patients;
  • Performs and interprets four (4) quality assurances on a schedule basis on radiographic and developing equipment, and is responsible for maintaining proper infection control procedures in radiographic techniques.
  • Expanded duties may include placing and finishing dental restorations, including bases and liners. Making primary impressions and pouring of the casts. Tooth shade selection for composite restorations and dentures.

Dental Assistant services to include:

  • The provision of complete dental prophylaxis, sub & supra gingival scaling utilizing ultrasonic & hand instrumentation.
  • Oral hygiene instruction and care for patients.
  • Topical radiographs to include routine diagnostic films, sialography, temporomandibular joint, and occlusal film.
  • Chair side assisting in all aspects of dentistry including extensive oral surgical procedures. Fill in duties canceled or failed appointments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • The Dental Assistant shall possess specialty training from an accredited Dental Assistant school. Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety.
  • The Dental Assistant shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
  • Current license to practice as a Dental Assistant in Minnesota
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services.
  • Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable.
