POSITION TITLE: Assistant Principal, High School – Dual Enrollment and Credit (Off Campus Administrator and University/College Liaison)
REPORTS TO: School Principal
POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the principal in providing middle and high school educational programs to ensure that each student enrolled in grades 9-12 receives the best possible educational experience in a positive learning environment, including off-campus educational opportunities.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
  • Serve as an off-site campus administrator for dual enrollment and administrator for real-world innovative projects.
  • Serve as primary administrator to coordinate and ensure the success of activities, and partners on-site and off-site for all real-world experiences.
  • Organizes students’ programs and real-world authentic learning for real-world authentic project-based learning.
  • Assists the principal with administering the operation of the school and communicating any developments affecting performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Evaluate, encourage, and recommend improvements regarding the instructional program and the activity programs related to academic improvement and maximum student participation; assist teachers in developing classroom management plans.
  • Assists the principal in the formulation of school objectives in support of the district objectives and policies.
  • Assists in the evaluation of candidates and selection of prospective members of the certificated and support staff.
  • Assists in evaluating the performance of the staff to improve the instructional program and determine eligibility for re-employment.
  • Assumes a proactive role regarding disciplinary action required for students.
  • Assists the principal in the development of the master schedule, grade reporting, and preparation of reports requested by district supervisory personnel and/or outside agencies.
  • Participates in student and parent activities and organizations.
  • Assists with the program for transitioning students from middle to high school and from high school to college experiences.
  • Assists with the development of the annual budget for the school’s planned educational program.
  • Positively and objectively represents and interprets the school to the community; and participates in professional activities designed to enhance competency in all areas of responsibility.
  • Track record of improving student achievement.
  • Experience with diverse student populations.
  • Serves as an instructional leader for the school and moves the school toward continuous academic improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Marginal Functions
  • Make daily announcements to all teachers and students over the public address system and perform routine clerical tasks as required.
Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
  • Standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing.
  • Normal attention with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, is required.
  • Light physical demand with regular lifting of very light-to-light (1 to 25 lbs.) items by hand.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Typical office conditions with occasional exposure to outside environment for recess duty.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Broad knowledge of an advanced and professionally specialized discipline or other studies not available in undergraduate schools, involving advanced theoretical knowledge within a specialized field. Equivalent to a Master’s degree.
Experience: Requires a minimum of three years up to and including five years of successful secondary teaching experience; and practical experience in instructional management, effective teaching models, and curriculum development.

  • Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Compute discount, interest, profit and loss; commission, markup, and selling price; ratio and proportion, and percentage.
  • Perform reading, writing, and speaking at an intermediate level.
  • Ability and personality necessary to work effectively with colleagues, parents, other individuals, community and school groups and organizations; must demonstrate positive, effective “people skills”.

Computer and related software including Internet access fax and copy machine.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required: High School Principal’s Certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
