Hawkins HR Consulting is Hiring an Instructional Designer Near Lexington, KY

Our local client is seeking an Instructional Designer to join their growing Learning and Development team for their in-house educational institute. This is an exciting brand-new role within their distribution organization.

Job summary:

This position will primarily create interactive and engaging in-person and online learning modules based on Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge and input. Course development will include the use of videos, hands-on exercises, exams, etc. Hard copy instruction manuals and pamphlets will also be designed and developed. Instructors will then teach developed the curriculum to customers and in-house technical personnel. This position will mostly work onsite in Greater Lexington, KY with some flexibility offered of 1 day working from home every 1-2 weeks with approval based on employee and business needs. The typical schedule will be Monday – Friday 8:00a – 5:00p.

Education and Experience:

  • Prefer Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training/Development or related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Instructional Design Experience - 2 years full-time work designing curriculum, eLearning and classroom development.
  • Having taught courses in the past would be a plus.
  • Prefer candidates have some mechanical interest/aptitude.

Instructional Designer Qualifications/Skills:

  • Knowledge of instructional theory, including assessment.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Experience with design platforms
  • Ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical individuals
  • Upbeat and engaging personality with a creative mind
  • Self-directed
