ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operates dump trucks and moves nuts between husker receiving pads.
  • Operates forklift to unload supersacks and move equipment.
  • Receives nut deliveries after being weighed by scale house.
  • Applies first in first out priority to processing nuts on receiving pad unless different priority is determined by Husker Supervisor/Manager.
  • Directs bag haulers and outside farmers/truckers to dump nuts in designated areas.
  • Keeps receiving pads and surrounding areas clean.
  • Keeps husk/dust cleared away from the cyclone tower and ensures it is available for Soil Plus.
  • Loads, weighs and records husking trash from the Tomra and sorting conveyors as needed.
  • Operates a front-end loader to push nuts up and around the husking pads as necessary for efficient unloading of deliveries.
  • Routinely inspects husking vehicles and equipment for necessary maintenance and notifies maintenance of any necessary repairs.
  • Manages fill level of WIH hopper as directed.
  • Loads nuts into grizzly using front end loader.
  • Cleans out grizzly and WIH hopper, as necessary.
  • Performs related tasks as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required for the position.
  • Must be able to work beyond scheduled work hours.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Informs Husker Supervisor/Manager of any machinery or equipment issues.
  • Helps to clean the husking station at the end of the shift.
  • Provides assistance to the Husker Supervisor with normal operations as needed.
  • Provides assistance to the scale house attendant with obtaining samples from outside deliveries.
  • Provides support to the maintenance department when needed.
  • Provides assistance to outside farmers with unloading deliveries.
  • Observes all safety/health policies and procedures. 
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior related experience preferred.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, including, but not limited to shovels, scrapers, and buckets.
  • Experience operating power equipment, including but not limited to backpack blowers, weed whackers, and power washers preferred.
  • Experience operating a forklift, front end loader, grizzly auger, and dump truck preferred.
  • Must have a valid Hawaii Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Seldom: Lying, crawling, pinching, kneeling, running/sprinting,
  • Occasional:  Twisting, reaching overhead, squatting, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling more than 50lbs.
  • Frequent: Walking, climbing, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50lbs, gripping, wrist movement, repetitive motion, finger dexterity.
  • Constant:  20/40 vision, depth perception.
COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and receive verbal and written instruction.

  • Must be able to work at heights above 3 feet.
  • Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards.
