JOB SUMMARY 

  • The Shift Manager works with the Store Manager (SM) to properly and efficiently operate the store utilizing Company policies and procedures in a manner that ensures the store is profitable and contributes to the profitability of the Company. The Shift Manager will assist the SM in implementing Company initiatives, policies, Rewards Card initiatives, mobile app, WCS, merchandising strategies, and operating strategies, as well as addressing other business needs and requirements. The Shift Manager serves the customers of Minit Stop by performing the following duties, in a manner consistent with Minit Stop’s Vision Statement to be the preferred placed to shop and to work.
  • In addition, the Shift Manager will also have the responsibility of training their home store’s newly hired employees. Training includes “buddy” training, cook training, cashier training, and overall store cleaning, maintenance, and operations training. The Shift Manager is also responsible to ensure new hires are trained in MS safety policies and procedures, as well as MS Safety Culture, company culture, Core Values, Fish! Values, and WCS. The Shift Manager is also responsible for ensuring that all new hires in their home store are properly and fully trained in all Minit Stop store policies, culture, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assists store management in maintaining the operations & store image standards of Minit Stop by ensuring all company policies & procedures are followed.
  • Successfully fulfills all the tasks and responsibilities of a Minit Stop Associate (MSA) I, II, III.
  • Supervises & directs employees to ensure all shift responsibilities are completed.
  • Receives newly hired trainees for their home store after they leave orientation. Gives the new trainee(s) a quick tour of the store and familiarizes the trainee(s) with the store layout, equipment, and location of tools necessary for the trainee to do their job.
  • Responsible for training their home store’s newly hired employees. Training includes “buddy” training, cook training, cashier training, safety, and overall store cleaning, maintenance, and operations training.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all new hires in their home store are properly and fully trained in all Minit Stop store policies and procedures.
  • The Shift Manager is also responsible to ensure new hires are trained in MS safety policies and procedures, as well as MS Safety Culture, company culture, Values, Fish! Values, and WCS.
  • Submits new hire/trainee performance assessment to Minit Stop’s Assistant Training Manager and/or Training Manager at the end of the new hire’s first week, first month, and first 3 months of work in order to assess the new employees’ performance and affinity/aptitude for work with Minit Stop.
  • Immediately notify the Store Manager and the Training Manager if a new hire is:
    • NOT performing to expectations
    • NOT following safety rules, policies, and procedures after being warned at least twice.
    • NOT able to do the basic job functions required
    • NOT demonstrating a positive attitude, and/or is negatively impacting the store
    • NOT showing up for their scheduled shift on time
    • NOT showing up for work
  • Conduct additional training as needed for trainees. Hold review training if necessary.
  • Works with the Store Manager to evaluate all new hires after their first week, first month, and first 90 days of employment with Minit Stop. Turns in evaluation forms to HR.
  • Understands and is able to do End of Day closing and reports, receiving, invoicing, can operationally handle closing the store at night/opening the store in the morning, and any other operational procedures necessary for the store to function normally according to Minit Stop policies and procedures.
  • Effectively uses tools such as the Manager’s Daily Planner, food build-up sheets, checklists, etc. to ensure task completion.
  • Supervises MSAs to ensure they are conducting themselves according to our World Class Service (WCS) standards of behavior and customer service.
  • Actively ensures that customer service and satisfaction are a priority.
  • Actively promotes and “Walks the Talk” of Minit Stop’s Fish! Practices of Be There, Play, Make Their Day, and Choose Your Attitude. Must ensure that our MSAs are living and carrying out these practices. 
  • Actively promotes and “Walks the Talk” of Minit Stop’s Values of Pono, Safety, Initiative, Commitment, Service Excellence, Integrity, and Fun. Must ensure that our MSAs are living and carrying out these values on a daily basis
  • Understands & applies all company policies & procedures.
  • Motivates & supports employees in the accomplishment of tasks, leading by example.
  • Maintains store image standards by following procedures.
  • Actively promotes the store’s safety policies and procedures while assisting the SM in implementing a safe and secure working environment, safe work practices, and proper training of employees.
  • Oversees the overall operation of Minit Stop’s food service, quality and portion control, ensuring specifications & processes are followed, proper temperature and times, use of PPE, and sanitization.
  • Understands & applies knowledge of shift scheduling to assist store management as needed.
  • Complies with all Company’s Rules of Conduct, policies and procedures.
  • Participates in all Company required training sessions. 
  • Compliance with all Federal, State, Local and Company safety, health and environmental regulations.
  • Regular attendance. Must be able to work posted work schedule. Qualified absences related to the State and Federal Family Medical Leave Act must be reported to Human Resources.
  • Performs multiple tasks in fast paced and detail-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency desired.
  • Minimum eighteen (18) months of experience, or college credits.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age to be eligible for liquor registration card.
  • Able to read, understand, and communicate instructions and company policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers. Ability to delegate & follow up to ensure task completion.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, & divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, & decimals. 
  • Ability to resolve situations exercising good judgment & following company policies & procedures. Ability to prioritize tasks based on an understanding of store operations.
  • Have the flexibility to be able to train new hires during any shift, including the opening, mid, afternoon, and closing shifts. Occasional weekend training may also be required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • TB clearance certificate and a current Manager’s Liquor Card.
  • Completion of Minit Stop’s certification as a Supervisor.
  • Completion of Minit Stop’s certification as a designated Store Trainer
