Description

Job Summary

As the IT Specialist, you are responsible for managing PC/LAN operations for any IT related matters within the organization. This includes but is not limited to, installation, documentation, administration, technical services and procurement.

The IT Specialist troubleshoots problems with network applications, hardware and software usage as well as industry specific systems including POS, Fuel Controller and date center equipment to aid in the 24/7 nature of our business. In addition, the IT Specialist serves as an expert in all IT matters for day-to-day operations including advising on risk assessment, technology initiatives and software/hardware maximization.

Suitability for Position

The most suitable person for this role is someone who is able to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve individual and common goals. Someone who is well organized, able to multitask, possesses the ability to communicate clearly and can serve a multitude of different team members in a consistent manner.

To be successful in this role, you must be a self-starting, detail oriented and driven individual who is able to troubleshoot and quickly resolve office related problems should they arise. The ideal candidate would be someone who understands the importance of teamwork and clear communication across the organization.

Qualifications


General Requirements

· Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.

· A bachelor’s degree in a Information Technology related field is preferred but the equivalent amount of experience (3 year minimum) would also be considered.

· A minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments such as hardware, software, applications and configurations is strongly recommended.

· A professional level understanding of network building and maintenance including systems hardware experience with routers, switches, servers and phone lines is highly desired.

· Proficiency in office-based software including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, Teams and other office-based computer systems including the ability to teach and aid others in navigating is required.

· Strong time management and prioritization skills are required as well as the ability to think independently to make informed decisions.

· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of different individuals with different positions, goals and abilities.

· The ability to troubleshoot and resolve related issues using critical thinking and logic whenever possible.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, other departments, and external stakeholders.

· The ability to work independently as a full-service field technician as well as a team member on business upgrades, training, installation and support.

· Must possess the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of IT related issues as well as alternative solutions, to problems.

· The ability to determine how a system should work, and how changes in conditions, operations and the environment will affect outcomes is desired.

· Must possess the ability to work and negotiate with vendors to determine hardware purchases and present best recommendations to Management.

· Must be able to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate action.

· Familiarity with the use and configuration of smartphones and other electronic devices for business purposes is required.

· Must have strong analytical skills, understand backup technologies and equipment, and a professional and current understanding of diverse electronic components and equipment.

· Possession of and maintaining a valid Type 3 Drivers License is a requirement of this role as well as having reliable and business appropriate transportation for work purposes.

· Must also have the ability to travel off home island to various locations for work related activities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

· Serve as the point person for all IT related topics and issues including maintaining computer, POS and Fuel controller systems as well as server and data center equipment issues and maintenance.

· Support fellow team members in a 24/7 work environment with troubleshooting and fixing IT problems.

· Act as a positive frontline support for all emergency and nonemergency situations involving IT related items including collaborating with any and all colleagues as support to the team.

· Maintenance of the Company’s network, server room and servers, installation of applications software, planning, testing, documentation, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software.

· Verify all ideas and suppositions and examine and verify hardware functionality and capabilities for accuracy. Once verified, consult with Management to provide quality recommendations and risk associated with all technology initiatives and ideas.

· Communicate timely with employees on the management of any issues that need to be escalated or are considered emergencies such as server downtime so that they are informed of all critical issues.

· Ensure timely and regular backup of data and restoration of data from backups as necessary.

· Attend all required Company training, meetings and relevant work related functions.

· Maintain compliance with all Federal, State, Local and Company safety, health and environmental regulations.

· Other duties and special projects as assigned
