We are currently seeking Registered Professional Nurses for the Critical Care Training Program. This program is a development program and will prepare nurses for a critical role in our Intensive Care Unit.
JOB DUTIES: The position will be responsible for independently developing and implementing nursing care plans for patients; provide nursing care treatment and educational services to both our patients and their families and work alongside our providers as well as ancillary staff; may assign and direct the work of lower level registered nurses and nursing assistants; may serve as a charge nurse on an assigned shift and perform other related duties as assigned; We offer educational opportunities such as in house ACLS, PALS, BLS, and TNCC certifications offered for no cost for our employees.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate outstanding communication skills, while adhering to our Mission, Vision, and Values.
DESIRED SKILLS: Knowledge of nursing theory and practice; nursing techniques and procedures; nursing literature and current trends and development in nursing. The ability to apply nursing theory and practice in planning giving nursing care; recognize, interpret and evaluate symptoms of a patients condition and take appropriate action. The employee should be able to initiate and maintain working relationships with members of the medical staff, administration, nursing, and other departments and agencies affiliated with the hospital.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify, you must meet all the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelors Degree is highly desirable.
Evidence of the appropriate training (e.g. official transcript of diploma) should be submitted with the application to be given credit for education. A legible photocopy will be accepted. However, Hilo Medical Center reserves the right to request an official copy.
EXPERIENCE: One-half (1/2) year of professional nursing work experience, where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients in a clinic, hospital, or institution.
CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is required one (1) month after employment. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is preferred. Please submit copy of certification with the application. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required six (6) months after employment.
LICENSURE: A valid State of Hawaii as a Registered Professional Nurse is required. Evidence of licensure is required with the application.
