Job Details Job Location Haven for Hope of Bexar County - San Antonio, TX Salary Range $16.44 - $24.66 Hourly Travel Percentage Driving Role Description SUMMARY. The Painter & Maintenance Technician is responsible for all interior and exterior painting from preparation to completion, drywall repairs and installations and any repairs to finishes. Under supervisor, the Technician will also assist in other facility maintenance repairs and projects to include routine maintenance and minor emergency repairs on plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliances, and any other general maintenance requests. Maintenance Tech also performs minor building maintenance that includes painting, wallpaper, sheet rock work, flooring repairs, cabinet repairs and assemble equipment and furniture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
Surveys painting project/sites to estimate time, material quantities and cost, and selection of appropriate surface coatings, paint and other necessary supplies.
Responsible for painting walls, equipment, buildings, and other structural surfaces as directed by Facilities leadership. Communicates with leadership to determine painting requirements and assists to make decisions for the projects.
Sets up ventilators, air scrubbers, and other safety equipment to protect clients and employees from unhealthy fumes.
Ensures coverage of trim, floors, furniture, and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint.
Prepares walls and other surfaces before painting to include, but not limited to removing and reinstalling fixtures (i.e., doorknobs, electric switch covers), filling holes and cracks with putty and plaster repair or blending and applying proper primer and other sealers to paint surfaces to ensure proper adhesion.
Cleans and maintain workspaces, spray nozzles, brushes, and all other equipment at the end of your shift. Maintains the work area free hazardous conditions.
Maintains an inventory of painting supplies such as brushes, rollers, and tarps, etc.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them for it to be operational order.
Inspects, operates, tests or repairs machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
Replaces and repairs lawn equipment and equipment parts.
Inspects grounds daily to ensure adequate upkeep, notes for needed improvements.
Collaborates with other design and construction specialists.
Reviews and implements work orders and assignments.
Performs on-call and after-hours emergency services as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications EDUCATION.
Minimum: High School Graduate or GED
EXPEREINCE
Prefer a minimum of 2 years painting experience.
Prefer a minimum of 2 years general maintenance experience.
KNOWLDEGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES.
Knowledge of safety, OSHA regulations
Proficient in using various painting tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Knowledge of construction/maintenance repairs and procedures in general maintenance
Considerable knowledge and ability to use all tools and equipment used in various trades.
Skill in effective planning and organizing of maintenance and painting activities.
Ability to promote efficiency, teamwork and interaction with staff and partners.
Skill in oral and written communication and computer literacy
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES. None CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid Texas Driver's License, a good driving record, reliable transportation and proper insurance coverage on automobile used for work. Monthly reimbursement for applicable and documented work-related expenditures is provided. Travel within the city and its surrounding areas will be required (if applicable). PHYSICAL DEMANDS. May be exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, dust and fumes.
Shift work may be required and must be able to respond to after-hour emergencies.
