Have Faith Haiti provides safety, nourishment, education, and opportunity for Haiti’s impoverished children and orphans, and stability for staff and their families in Port-au-Prince.

We provide a loving home where children can thrive personally, academically, and spiritually. After graduating from our bilingual academy, children have a pathway to attend college or vocational training and return home as changemakers and leaders in the Haitian community.

Purpose of Position:

For the last 14 years, the success of Have Faith Haiti has relied primarily on the passionate commitment of Mitch Albom, a few key stakeholders, and a small but dedicated group of volunteers and major donors. In 2022, with a move to a much larger property in Port-au-Prince, came a great deal of opportunity – opportunity for growth, new programs and services, and opportunity to make it safer for our staff, children, and future children. This move also highlighted the acute need for increased fundraising to support the transformation of existing buildings and new ones, in addition to increased operational costs associated with the jump from a third-of-an-acre property to seven.

Critical to the success of a strategic plan developed this year is hiring a Director of Advancement who can drive the organization’s fundraising efforts, both by stewarding our existing donor base, and building a pipeline of support by identifying, engaging, and converting new prospective donors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with our Board of Directors, Program Director, Content Director, and Fundraising Advisor to develop and drive fundraising campaigns and initiatives that pursue Have Faith Haiti’s strategic goals.
• Expand Have Faith Haiti’s development program by executing fundraising activities designed to attract annual giving, monthly giving, and institutional giving.
• Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
• Steward current sponsors to the new monthly giving program as a part of our strategic plan.
• Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors.
• Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising.
• Oversee planning, organizing, executing, and evaluating all fundraising events, third-party fundraising events, and other events which advance Have Faith Haiti’s profile, reach, and mission.
• Develop strong networks within the Detroit, MI community and grow prospects for potential revenue streams and event sponsorships.
• Manage and update records of Have Faith Haiti’s donor database.
• Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or evolve as needed.
• Standard working hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position’s schedule may vary based on organizational need, and some late evenings and weekend hours may be required.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, marketing, communications, or nonprofit management or related field
• Two to three years of sales management or non-profit fundraising experience preferred
• Experience with a donor database is preferred (we use Bloomerang)
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace
• Delivers effective individual and group presentations which are powerful and impactful to drive financial support
• Skilled in developing relationships with individuals while building rapport quickly to deliver results
• Demonstrate self-motivation and sense of urgency
• Ability to work independently and determine priorities, maintain activity on a number of projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
• Ability to work collaboratively, act innovatively, and embrace change
• Ability to work in effectively in virtual and office environments
• Provide friendly, donor-centered customer service and represent Have Faith Haiti and our mission in a positive and professional manner
• The successful candidate will be mature, highly motivated, and team-oriented, with the highest ethical standards and ability to drive results

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
