We are seeking a Vice President of Construction to provide management and oversight to the electrical and construction program. The VP of Construction leads the construction department towards execution of a strategic plan that’s related to solar construction. The position establishes priorities and determines resource allocation for the effective and efficient delivery of multiple projects simultaneously. Salary is commensurate with related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Major Responsibilities of Position

· Ensure electrical and construction standards are of the highest quality and safety standards; ensure and enforce the use of proper construction techniques.

· Supervising immediate subordinates (electricians, crew leaders) to manage installers, subcontractors and schedules that are related to the daily construction issues of a project.

· Working with Project Management team for selection of subcontractors who work on various projects.

· Ensure “as-built” documentation is provided to Engineering in a timely fashion; use the findings to recommend continuous improvement.

· Tracking and controlling the construction schedules and the associated costs for achieving project completion within the budget and time allotted

· Reporting to the senior management on the progress of a project, personnel issues, and necessary modifications / recommendations to be executed

· Reviewing progress reports, checking on reported difficulties and correcting any safety violation, quality issue or other deficiencies

· Review of blueprints for brand quality standards and construction feasibility

· Tracking/Notation of all project progression

· Create/Implement procedures and forms for more effective project completion.

· Review and coordinate equipment estimates as necessary for project completion.

· Coordinate with vendors on necessary estimates, deliveries and concerns if they should arise.

· Carry out a review of work progress on a regular basis.

· Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks to our projects and Harvest.

· Plan, as well as make decisions to mitigate problems.

· Act as Apprentice Committee member offering guidance and feedback to Apprentices to ensure their engagement in the program.

· Make hire, discipline and termination recommendations in alignment with company policy and procedures.

· Work with HR department on a regular basis for recruiting needs and personnel development.

· Support the safety policies to achieve the goal of “zero lost time accidents.”

· Use the training matrix and employee/installer review process to develop the construction crews into professional solar installers.

· Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Certification Background

· Valid State Driver’s License, required. Ability to obtain a CDL, preferred.

· Bachelor’s degree in directly related discipline such as, civil engineering, construction or building science, required. Two years of directly related experience may substitute for one year of university degree.

· Minimum of ten years directly related job experience required.

· Journeyman electrical and practical construction experience required.

· Experience in handling personnel like plumbers, masons, carpenters, electricians etc., required.

· Understanding of code compliance: NEC, IBC and Michigan residential code

· Strong architectural/engineering document understanding/application and construction verbiage.

· Proficiency in Windows Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and Outlook

Work Environment

· Office Environment 70% of the time: Busy office with frequent interruptions and multi-tasking required; standard office equipment is available including Microsoft Office.

· Travel Required 20% of the time: Position supports job site activities therefore daily and overnight travel is required. Harvest values our employees work life balance and whenever possible, overnight travel is Monday through Friday. Hotel and transportations costs are covered. Additionally, food per diem is paid for overnight stays.

· Shop Environment 10% of the time: Position supports shop activities therefore, exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid and cold conditions.

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
