Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Service Technician to join our team. As a Service Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of agricultural and construction equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a customer-focused mindset, and a passion for ensuring the optimal performance of machinery.

Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
    • Diagnose, inspect, and repair agricultural and construction equipment, including tractors, combines, loaders, and implements.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks to ensure equipment longevity and optimal performance.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and address issues promptly.
    • Conduct thorough assessments of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to determine the root cause of malfunctions.
  • Customer Service:
    • Interact with customers to gather information about equipment issues and provide updates on repair progress.
    • Offer guidance and technical support to customers, answering queries and providing recommendations for equipment maintenance.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all services performed, including parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings.
    • Complete service reports and submit them in a timely manner for billing and warranty purposes.
  • Parts Management:
    • Collaborate with the parts department to ensure the availability of necessary components for repairs.
    • Communicate effectively with parts personnel to order, receive, and manage inventory levels.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing all tasks.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring the safe operation of tools and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proven experience as a service technician, preferably in the agricultural or construction equipment industry.
    • Strong knowledge of John Deere equipment and systems or Honda or Stihl power equipment.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems are highly desirable.
    • John Deere Service Technician Certification is a plus.
  • Customer-Focused:
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to customers.
  • Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Team Player:
    • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Physical Fitness:
    • Ability to lift heavy equipment parts and perform physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance.

Job Particulars

Full Time - up to 45 hours average in peak season or at the direction of management; 40 hours in the off season.

Schedule is Monday-Friday with a rotation of Saturday. Typically, a 7am-430pm shift.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. continuously.
Able to supply own tools or purchase through the employer at a discount.
Able to take on tasks by themselves with little supervision.
A clean driving record.
