The Human Resource Manager is directly responsible for overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function in a fast-paced manufacturing plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as main point of contact for all employees within manufacturing operations, remote sales and transport drivers
2. Provide HR/ safety support, with assistance from HR Admin
3. Manage safety programs, policies, and training for employees and managers, while adhering to OSHA and DOT regulations, with direction from Corporate VP, EHS
4. Assist in resolution of grievances filed by union representatives, with direction from Corporate Labor Relations Manager.
5. Negotiate renewal of labor agreement contracts, typically 3-year terms
6. Manage Performance Evaluation Program
7. Develop, recommend and implement personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain facility handbook and benefits guide
8. Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt, and hourly workers; write and place advertisements; work with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conduct all pre-employment screenings; conduct new-hire orientations
9. Maintain company’s applicant tracking system
10. Develop HR department goals and initiatives; participate in goal setting initiatives for plant
11. Manage all FMLA and attendance tracking
12. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws
13. Lead and maintain necessary audit compliance
14. Other duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. College degree (B.S.) in Human Resource Management or a related field, and five years of human resource experience.
2. SHRM-CP / PHR certification preferred.
3. Strong union background, with a minimum of two (2) solid years’ experience in employee relations.
4. Experience in safety management.
5. Great communication skills, written and spoken form.
6. Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong work ethic; self-starter.
7. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
8. Ability to travel on occasion
