Who are we?

Hart Print is the first company in North America to introduce digital printing on aluminum cans. While we design packaging for just about anything that fits in a can, we cater primarily to the craft beverage market, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional printing, stickers, and sleeves. Hart Print is a customer focused and highly creative team.

Since launching operations in Montreal in 2019, growth has been exceptional, including launching two new sites in the US. With over 150M cans per year of printing power, and more to come, Hart Print is well positioned to support the can supply needs of beverage companies across North America. The team is growing, too, increasing from its original 6 team members to now over 140. We are now ready to launch our third site in Elkton, Maryland.

Your job purpose :

The production lead keeps things running smoothly according to all health and safety guidelines, quality standards and policies in place. He oversees all day-to-day activities on the production floor. He/she boosts overall efficiency and ensures employee morale is consistently upheld. Most importantly he/she helps grow and develop a culture of accountability and ownership. In other words, this person acts as a humble leader that understands the importance of others needs to succeed while achieving business goals.

How you will make an impact:

  • Operate the printers;
  • Strive to achieve (and why not surpass!) our daily production objectives;
  • Keep our printers in tip-top shape;
  • Ensure the success of your team by developing, training and coaching them;
  • Assist, support and coordinate with the Technical Support team and Quality Specialist for process, procedures improvement initiatives;
  • Support the development, implementation of production procedures and their execution with safety and efficiency;
  • “Win the shift”: Set the drumbeat of the shift, by providing robust leadership and communication to the operators;
  • Ensure completion of tasks assigned by the General Manager;
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed, communicated and acknowledged;
  • Ensure data collection is properly done;
  • Ensure compliance with our quality standards and guidelines for finished goods;
  • Complete 5S audit;
  • Assess team performance and identify strengths and weaknesses;
  • Keep the General Manager informed of task progression, issues, and urgent matters;
  • Supervise and support shift team members;
  • Lead and participate in Kata initiatives (Continuous Improvement);
  • Support Day-to-Day operations as needed;
  • Help develop and implement management tools that will enable circulation of information, process improvement;
  • Help foster interdepartmental positive collaboration;
  • Level up by earning your badges with our exciting gamer-type training system. Our method of training uses an approach that encourages continuous improvement and leverages your natural tendencies for competition, achievement, and collaboration.

Knowledge and skills required

  • Strong leadership and communication skills and a high sense of teamwork (Team Player!).
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Ability to perform basic electrical, electronic, and light mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting skills to determine root causes of technical and non technical issues
  • Skilled with both electrical and mechanical hand tools and testing equipment.
  • At ease with technology.
  • A technical degree in mechanics or printing is a great asset.
  • Experience in traditional or digital printing is a strong asset.
