Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the meat department, including ordering, receiving, and inventory management
- Ensure proper handling and storage of all meat products to maintain freshness and quality
- Supervise and train meat department staff on proper food safety procedures and techniques
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of meat products
- Manage pricing and promotions to maximize sales and profitability
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their meat selections and answering any questions they may have
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including display cases, storage areas, and equipment
- Monitor and enforce compliance with all health and safety regulations
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food industry setting, preferably in a meat department or butcher shop
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff
- Proficient in food production techniques, including cutting, trimming, and packaging meat products
- Culinary background or training is a plus
- Ability to use knives and other meat processing tools safely and efficiently
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and quality
Note: This position may require standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy objects.
