HARRIS RANCH BEEF CO is Hiring a Director of Procurement Contracts Near Selma, CA

Harris Ranch Beef Company is one of the largest fully integrated Beef producers in the Western United States, controlling all aspects of beef production, including cattle sourcing, feeding and processing. Harris Ranch Beef Company carries an expansive product line which includes fresh boxed beef, value-added ground beef, fresh seasoned beef, fully cooked beef entrees and deli meats. Harris Ranch Beef Company is currently looking for a Director of Procurement Contracts. The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker with a system-driven approach and excellent judgment with strong negotiation skills, strong business acumen, enjoys being challenged with process improvements and cost savings initiatives.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Develop/implement purchasing and vendor contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels of supplies, packaging, parts, equipment at multiple locations and overseeing 8 - 12 team members.
  • Assisting to ensure proper purchasing, receiving and inventory processes and controls are consistent across all divisions.
  • Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
  • Negotiate purchase and lease agreements for products or services.
  • Being accountable for pricing, contracting, and understanding usage and related cost across all categories of spending.
  • Identify vendors of packaging materials, equipment, supplies and parts, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Develop cost-reduction strategies and savings initiatives.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability/cost.
  • Ensuring requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment are processed in a timely manner.
  • Engage, build, and partner with the executive team, key stakeholders, and vendors to ensure alignment with current and long-term business objectives.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting the market.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by leadership.
  • On-going price comparison of all operating and repair supplies.
  • Assist in purchasing and implementing a maintenance system.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in purchasing management, legal and/or other negotiation experience in the public or private sector, preferably in a Food Processing environment or comparable experience/education.
  • Highly proficient in contract negotiations, contract maintenance and vendor management.
  • Price conscious and driven to assist the organization in savings through analysis and negotiation.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including legal drafting skills), interpersonal skills to lead conversations for special projects/initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills; detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize; proven ability to work well in a team and quickly adapt to rapid changes in environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; public speaking skills and ability to present information to groups in various settings.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000
