Through its core values of innovation, engagement, and health equity, HCPH strives to bring meaningful solutions to public health issues while keeping Harris County healthy and vibrant.Position Overview:The Diabetes Prevention Program Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and supervision of the Diabetes Prevention Program day-to-day operations and staff. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality diabetes prevention education cohorts to Harris County residents and fostering relationships with community partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises, develops, supports and evaluates program employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems. Manages all day-to-day operations of program implementation.
  • Instructs, manages, and provides lifestyle education to the community on an evidence based curriculum for the annual Diabetes Prevention Program cohorts.
  • Plans and conducts outreach activities, including attending partnerships meetings and community events, to enhance program engagement and participation.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with Harris County community organizations in order to launch education sessions and ensure successful participation within the community.
  • Records and monitors participant data, including number of participants seen. Tracks progress toward program goals.
  • Reviews records and reports pertaining to program activities, monitors work activities, and evaluates performance for community cohorts and employees.
  • Stays updated on the latest research, approaches, theories, and practices in pre-diabetes and diabetes management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including special tasks involved with responding to emergency events.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, or related field.
  • Valid TX Driver's License.
Experience:
  • Two (2) years of experience working directly in public health, nutrition and/or dietetics.
  • One (1) year of experience supervising program activities and staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members.

Physical Demands:
  • This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
