Harris County is Hiring a Public Affairs Executive Assistant Near Houston, TX

What you will do for Harris County Precinct 2
We are seeking an experienced, highly organized and detail-oriented Executive Assistant to provide comprehensive support to the Policy and Community Relations Departments. 

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating smooth operations, assisting both departments, provide support to the director and ensure efficient coordination of tasks and projects. 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the smooth functioning of the Policy and Community Relations departments, including but not limited to scheduling, file management, and correspondence management for the departments.
  • Support the Policy team by performing research, drafting documents, organizing briefings, providing assistance during Commissioners Court, and managing pre- and post-court tasks.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, event planning, and attendee management for both internal and external gatherings, including scheduling, invitations, walk-throughs, and equipment reservations as needed.
  • Assist Sr. Director of Community Relations and Policy Department by managing schedules and calendars, organizing travel arrangements, drafting briefings, and coordinating meeting logistics.
  • Handle correspondence, stakeholder communication, draft and prepare ceremonial documents, office maintenance, and purchasing logistics. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution 

Experience:

  • Five (5) years experience as an executive assistant or in a similar administrative role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.

Education:
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university  (preferred)

Experience:
  • Experience in a governmental or community-focused setting (preferred)

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Full-time | Regular 

  • Monday - Friday | 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.  

  • Hours may vary based on business needs of the department and some weekend, evening hours or holidays may be required during special events.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Noise level in the work environment is usually average.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files of up to 50 lbs, open filling cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
